Call it Native Content, Branded Media, Sponsored Content, Advertorial ...
Expect FTC's Lesley Fair to call it as she sees it: Advertising.
Luncheon Meeting, Mon. April 20, 11:30am-1:30pm

Call it native content, sponsored content, advertorials, or branded media. From the standpoint of legal compliance, the Federal Trade Commission has another word for it: advertising.  Are your clients up on the possible pitfalls when new forms of marketing run headlong into established FTC truth-in-advertising principles?  How do those dos and don’ts apply when companies use social media to promote their products?  Are there ways to generate buzz on social networks while remaining on the right side of the law?”

Lesley Fair, a Senior Attorney with the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, has represented the FTC in numerous investigations of deceptive advertising.  She began her career with the Division of Advertising Practices and now specializes in industry education. She is the FTC’s business blogger at business.ftc.gov.  At our luncheon, she'll share concrete examples, case studies, the information you need to know. Expect to go away from the luncheon with a clearer understanding of what's required and what's not when you'd rather not ruffle the FTC's feathers.
